20 Things That Aren’t Worth Your Time or Money

I probably could’ve come up with a few hundred, but here are 20:

1. Ruminating about the past

You can’t change what’s happened, but you can change what you do going forward. Learn the lesson and don’t waste precious time trying to relive the past and wishing it had turned out differently.

2. Buying an expensive home

When my ex-wife and I went to purchase our first home, we convinced ourselves we needed a 5 BR 4 Bath home in an uppity community. Obviously, we planned to have a family but instead we got divorced. In any case, we definitely didn’t need to spend what we did on our home. Only buy what you can afford (whatever you have enough to put a 20% down-payment on is a good indicator).

3. Expensive weddings

You learn a lot about what’s important after going through a divorce. One of them isn’t an expensive wedding. For one night of partying, it’s simply not worth the thousands of dollars and guilt if/when things don’t work out. Even if things DO work out, you’d be better off spending the money on a down-payment for a home, honeymoon, or literally anything else.

4. Trying to hold onto a doomed relationship
